755 fines issued over past week for breach of Covid-19 regulations

The Government has said that the number of infections have decreased, while further restrictions have been relaxed, however enforcement continues on those measures that are still in place.
According to the latest figures released on Tuesday, 755 fines were issued to people in Gozo and Malta by the relevant authorities regarding the enforcement of Covid-19 regulations.
540 fines were related to not wearing a mask. 176 people were fined for being in larger groups than allowed by law. 26 people were fined for violating the regulations relating to private gatherings in residences.
9 fines were imposed in connection with breaches of rules for establishments, and 4 people were fined for not complying with the quarantine obligation.
The Government highlighted that more than 5,600 inspections have been carried out on catering Establishments in the past week.
