All 4 new pontoons of the €6 million upgrade of the Mgarr fishing port are now in Gozo, Infrastructure Malta has said. With “the final works in the coming weeks.”
It explained that the quays and slip ways used by fishers in this harbour have been rebuilt. The old pontoons are being replaced by a number of demountable pontoon systems to better organise the marina, while also adding up to 90 new berthing spaces.
The project is co-financed by the EU’s European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and also included the cleaning of the port.
The project was launched in May 2019, with the works divided into different phases to avoid creating difficulties for working fishermen and other maritime activities in this port.
It was explained that the project will also improve the accessibility and safety of the port while adding new facilities for the removal and separation of fishing-generated waste.

“in coming weeks”
or perhaps “coming months”.
What on earth does “coming weeks” mean?
