22 new Covid-19 cases and 2 deaths recorded, 22 in hospital, with 3 in ITU22 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight with 32 recoveries. Authorities said that during the last 24 hours, a 90-year year old woman and a 99-year old man have both passed away while Covid-19 positive.

A total of 22 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, 3 of whom are in the ITU.

There have been 455 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases in Malta and Gozo is now at 574.

The number of vaccines administered is 811,753 up until yesterday, of which 5,059 are booster doses, the authorities said.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 16th of September, it shows the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 36,793 and the number of deaths showing is 449. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is at 130.60.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.
