The preferred dance types among all dance students were consistent with those of the previous year, being classical ballet, jazz and modern dance. The majority of students in respect of these dance types were females.

On the other hand, male students preferred Latin American, jazz, ballroom and modern dance, in this order. In the academic year under review, the majority of persons attending dance classes were under 10 years of age. These were followed by students in age groups 10-14 and 15-19.

Most of the employed staff, or 80 per cent, were working on a part-time basis. It should be noted that the teaching of dance as a part-time job is prevalent among employees in this sector. On the other hand, full-timers were mostly directors who, in general, were also teachers of dance.

Recurrent expenditure in 2008 reached €717,843, a drop of 7 per cent when compared to the previous academic year. The bulk of expenses were mainly attributed to staff costs, totalling €348,863 and accounting for 49 per cent of the total.

The total income generated in 2008 was €913,380, a drop of 9 per cent over the previous comparable period. The main source of income was tuition fees which accounted for 82 per cent of total income. At 14 per cent, dance shows also generated a significant proportion of total income.
