The Executive Committee of the National Malta Band Club Association (Ghaqda Nazzjonali Kazini tal-Banda) in response to the Curia statement regarding external religious activities, reiterated that the protocols currently in place ”do not permit any organised outdoor manifestations related to Maltese feasts, such as the traditional processions.”
In a statement, it said that, ”the Association encourages a collective effort, together with the respective Authorities, to immediately act and preserve our true Maltese cultural identity.”
It stressed that since April 2020, the National Malta Band Clubs Association has requested ”multiple times” for an official meeting with the Superintendency of Public Health so to discuss, together with the Archdiocese, ”proper protocols that permit the celebration of external feasts.”

The traditional Processions pose no problem, I believe. Band players do not need to shoulder each other to play and the faithful have dwindled from the hundreds to the tens. The problem is with the untraditional beer and washer showers that have been introduced some years ago for our youth so as to preserve continuity of partisans. If there is only 1 positive with Covid-19, hundreds will be infected.
