Qala Local Council has presented a formal objection to the application by Gozitan developer Joseph Portelli, for the sanctioning of excavation works being carried out while under appeal and which is in an Outside Development Zone.

Qala Mayor Paul Buttigieg said, ”as a Council we expect some type of support from the authorities and not to allow works to be carried out while under appeal.”

He added that, ”the Council will continue with its fight and will not give up to stop these massive permits that destroy our locality.”

Buttigieg concluded by saying that, ”we feel it is unjust that an appeal takes so long whilst works are continuing. Obviously the Tribunal would find it difficult for these developments to be restored to how they were. This is not acceptable.”
