Gozo blood donation session Sunday, the last before Christmas

The National Blood Transfusion Service expressed their thanks to the 15 people who called to donate blood in Gozo last Tuesday.
Once again with the theme in mind of – this Christmas be an angel and a ray of light for others … donate blood – it is encouraging Gozitans to please come forward and donate blood on Sunday, the 19th of December, from 8am to 1pm (last registration 1pm) the last session before Christmas.
There will also be a session on Tuesday, the 28th of December, from 1pm to 5pm (last registrations until 5pm) at the Centre in Xewkija, and encourages those who are able to please attend
The centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
The Service said that it appreciates seeing all those who donate blood and thanks in advance everyone who in one way or another through the year has participated in this fruitful, humanitarian mission.
The Service reminds everyone that it is very important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.
Important notes
Those who have undergone the swab test, whether routine or due to travel, are asked to wait until a negative Covid-19 test result is given
It is recommended to follow the advice of the health authorities and take the Covid-19 vaccine, or seasonal flu vaccine.
In this case, they must wait 7 days after receiving the vaccine before going to donate blood. If in the first 48 hours after vaccination, one does not have a fever or flu symptoms, then donations may be allowed to be made earlier at the discretion of the Service doctors.
