This comes following the recent developments related to the Covid-19 situation, the Bank said.

With effect from Monday, the 10th of January, Bank of Valletta will be temporarily closing its Balluta, Birzebbuga, Floriana, Marsa and St Paul’s Bay branches, while BOV Fleur de Lys Branch will be closing permanently.

BOV Nadur and Xaghra Branches will be reopening for service on the 8th and 10th of January respectively.

“Over the past weeks, we have been following the Covid-19 situation very closely in light of the impact it was having on our branches and services and taking actions to sustain an adequate level of service,” stated Kenneth Farrugia, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Bank of Valletta.

He added that ”the decisions we are taking are backed by our responsibility to protect our customers and employees, while ensuring that we utilise our human resources at branches in the most efficient manner possible.”

The Bank explained that ATMs and nightsafe deposit facilities at these branches will continue to operate in the normal manner. Customers who require access to safe deposit lockers within the mentioned branches during the period of temporary closures, are to call Customer Service Centre on +356 2131 2020 to set an appointment.

For non-cash services such as investments, homeloans, personal loans, rescheduling of loan repayments and application for new services, customers are to request an appointment through https://www.bov.com/Assistants/set-an-appointment, by sending an email on info@bov.com or by calling on +356 2131 2020.

The use of the Bank’s extensive network of ATMs, BOV Internet Banking, BOV Mobile Banking, BOV Pay and BOV Debit and Credit Cards for banking and payment necessities is being encouraged by BOV to limit all contact to a minimum and reduce the risk of contagion.

“We understand that these changes may cause a degree of inconvenience to some of our customers, but in view of the current situation, we strongly believe that these measures will enable us to continue safeguarding the health of our esteemed customers while continuing to provide top-level banking services, and at the same time protecting our own employees,” said Mr Farrugia.

Bank of Valletta apologised to its customers for any inconvenience caused and to thank them for their continuous cooperation.
