San Lawrenz village in Gozo is currently portraying a colourful message for peace.

Mayor Noel Formosa said that on the initiative of the Local Council the San Lawrenz piazza has been decorated with flowers and butterflies.

This is all thanks to local primary school students, under the guidance of Ms Zammit and the school security Mr Cilia, who prepared these flowers and butterflies.

Mayor Formosa explained that “the main aim of this initiative is to send a message of peace to the world. Apart from the colours related to our village and country, one butterfly represents the people of Ukraine.”

The school children left their hand prints on the flowers and butterflies as sign of solidarity.

The San Lawrenz Local Council thanked its handyman for his help in installing the symbols.
