194,545 inbound tourists visited the Maltese islands in AprilAccording to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, total inbound tourists for April were estimated at 194,545, while total nights spent amounted to 1,215,521.

175,067 inbound tourists visited Malta on holiday, followed by 10,760 tourists on business.

The NSO noted that French, German and Italian residents made up 38.2% of total inbound tourists.

The largest share of guest nights (82.9%) was spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay of total inbound tourists stood at 6.2 nights.

Total tourist expenditure almost reached €138.1 million, the NSO said. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €113.6.

Inbound tourists for the first four months of 2022 amounted to 429,841, while the total nights spent surpassed 3.0 million nights.

The NSO said that total tourist expenditure was estimated at €305.1 million. Total expenditure per capita stood at €710, decreasing from €904 in 2021.
