The Malta Red Cross, First Malta Branch have announced that they are organising a meeting for new volunteers who would like to join the organisation.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, the 11th of July at 14.00 hrs at Boffa Hospital in Floriana. New recruits will be given information about the branch and its work and about training opportunities.
The Malta Red Cross, First Malta Branch forms part of a global network of volunteers, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Movement is a worldwide humanitarian organisation present and active in almost every country, having more than 100 million members.
As members of this International Movement the Malta Red Cross mobilises the power of humanity to improve the lives of vulnerable people and take pride in the work done by our volunteers in the achievement of our mission.
For this purpose and through its dedicated volunteers, the branch’s work include the provision of first aid and ambulance service to cover sports, musical, cultural as well as national events; emergency preparedness and response activities; training of volunteers and the general public and supporting local civil protection and health authorities.
In order to be able to cover all these activities, the branch has two ambulances, a rescue pick up van and the latest addition to the fleet, a Quad Bike. The latter, together with a rescue pick-up serves as a backup for the ambulances. In this way, the volunteers are far more flexible and adaptive to the needs of the Maltese community that they represent.
The branch said that volunteers are the greatest asset with strong beliefs in professionalism, altruism and teamwork and for those who enjoy helping people, there is no better way than to join this organisation.
The Malta Red Cross, First Malta Branch concluded by saying those looking to do something this summer that is both fun and rewarding should join the most recognised voluntary organisation in the world and become part of the dynamic team of volunteers within the Malta Red Cross, First Malta Branch.
