Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo and Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said distribute cheques related to the Animal Welfare Fund

16 voluntary organisations that work in the field of animal protection have been allocated the sum of €116,487 between them with the aim of continuing to improve the protection of animals in our country.

This was announced by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said.

The Directorate for the Protection of Animals has re-launched this financial scheme in order to help those people who take care of animals that have been abandoned in various organisations and sanctuaries.

“The aim behind this initiative is to support these organisations to carry out projects that have the potential to provide a suitable life for animals. As a Ministry, together with NGOs, we are constantly working to give these animals the attention and care they need,” the Minister said.
