Construction works at the new Primary School and the extension of the Middle School at Victoria, Gozo, are “nearing completion,”the Foundation of Tomorrow’s Schools has said.

It added that in the coming weeks all construction will be completed. Mechanical and electrical works, as well as those related to finishings, will start afterwards.

The foundation stone was laid in November 2020, and the cost of the Victoria educational campus project has been estimated at €10 million.

The existing primary school in Victoria is about 160 years old and the project for the new school is being carried out “after years of careful planning and decisions and will be the largest capital project for Gozo’s educational infrastructure,” the Government said in 2020.

It was explained that the new school will have 16 classrooms for primary education and 10 classrooms for kindergarten. The school will also have classrooms for specific subjects, such as science, information technology and the arts.

The size of the school will be about 8,000 square metres, with 3,000 of them allocated for children’s sport and recreation.

In 2019 the remains of a stone quarry dating back to Roman times were found on the site of the new Victoria Primary School.
