A 25-year old man has been seriously injured after a pile of tiles that were being lifted in to a residence in Kercem fell on him.

Police said that the accident happened at around 7.30am on Friday morning, in Guze Flores Street.

The man, who is from Xewkija, was given medical assistance at the scene before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case.

Police investigation is still ongoing.
