A total of nine puppies and dogs have been rescued by Animal Welfare Gozo and Gozo SPCA in just one day.

This meas that both the Government animal welfare organisation and NGO Gozo SPCA are both completely full, with four dogs out on trial rehoming from Gozo SPCA.

Animal Welfare Gozo said that the three dogs were picked up from Wied il-Mielah, Gozo and appealed for help in finding their owner.

“We would like to thank Gozo SPCA for taking one of our dogs to their shelter so that we had the space to take these poor dogs in,” it said.

These dogs have now also been taken to Gozo SPCA, who said that the black and white is around 15kg, 9 -12 months, Foxie X. The other two are younger and smaller, Tal fenek X, none of the three are chipped.

Four cross breed puppies have also been rescued by Animal Welfare Gozo after being found abandoned in a box in Marsalforn.

They are approximately five weeks old. “Please be responsible and neuter your dogs, these animals feel the pain too”, it said. The pups will be up for adoption in a few weeks time.

Gozo SPCA took in two puppies, they are around eight weeks old and will probably make 25-30kg when fully grown, it said.

“Please be responsible and abide by law; microchip your dogs. It is also a legal requirement to put an ID tag on your dogs collar/harness,” Animal Welfare Gozo said.

It stressed that “dogs are family members, a lifetime commitment and cannot just be dumped in the middle of nowhere.”
