A spectacular Tribute Dinner to honour the legendary winemaker, Michele Chiarlo, was hosted earlier this month by Vini e Capricci in Gozo.
The exclusive event was a resounding success, raising a remarkable €7200 for The Guatemalta Foundation.
The funds donated will help towards the building of specialist eye clinic in Gutaemala which is being led by local expert Ophthalmologist Dr Franco Mercieca.
“We are immensely grateful to Vini e Capricci and all the attendees for their incredible generosity,” said Dr Mercieca. “Thanks to their support, we will be able to make a positive impact on the lives of many individuals and communities. It is events such as these that help make the impossible, possible.”
The Tribute Dinner, held at the unique concept venue in Xewkija, brought together wine aficionados, culinary enthusiasts, and industry professionals to celebrate the esteemed career of Michele Chiarlo.
Known for his exceptional winemaking skills and dedication to his craft, Chiarlo has been an ambassador for Italian wines around the world for decades.
Guests were treated to an extraordinary evening, that showcased an exceptional menu specially curated by the chefs at Vini e Capricci, who expertly paired each course with Michele Chiarlo’s iconic wines.
The Guatemalta Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to improving the lives of underprivileged communities in Guatemala, expressed its gratitude for the remarkable support and generous contributions from guests and partners.
Vini e Capricci founder and Director, Abraham Said, reflected, “events like these underscore the power of bringing together like-minded individuals who share a common vision for making a difference within our global community and the evening provided a fitting tribute and celebration to our dear friend and partner, Michele Chiarlo.”

Raising funds for such a worthy cause is admirable. I congratulate all those who made this possible. I am a Missionary myself and know first hand the huge benefit thousands of poor people will get from this eye-clinic. Thank you Dr. Mercieca and all involved. Be blessed.
