High vegetable prices help push up RPI inflation In December, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index (RPI) remained at a constant rate of 3.6%, the National Statistics Office said today.

The largest upward impact on annual inflation was measured in the Food Index (+1.86 percentage points). The NSO noted that this was largely due to the higher prices of vegetables.

The largest downward impact was recorded in the Transport and Communication Index (-0.30 percentage points). This was mainly reflecting lower prices of mobile phone services, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for December stood at 5.1%.
