Victoria PN Mayor confirms his agreement with Marsalforn Road projectJosef Schembri, the Nationalist Party Mayor of Victoria, has reiterated his agreement with the Marsalforn Road project.

The PN Party itself, in a statement on Wednesday came out against the project, arguing that “it is clear that in Government policy, environmental protection is given less priority than cars and tarmac.”

However, in a Facebook post on Friday, Schembri “declared” that “at the meeting of the Planning Authority in July 2021 I agreed with the proposal to connect Triq Gorg Pisani with Triq Patri Giacintu Camenzuli, as well as carrying out the necessary maintenance in Triq il Capuc?ini.”

He added that “these two roads form part of this application and fall within the boundaries of the city of Victoria.”

“The rest of the Marsalforn road mentioned in the application is in part of the localities of Zebbug and Xaghra and therefore do not fall under the boundaries of the Victoria,” he said.

Schembri claimed that “it is in this part of the road that it is proposed to uproot the trees.”
