Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg, said he has been informed that for Enemalta to find a fault in Gozo a vehicle with a device must come over from Malta, and with faults also in Malta, the vehicle is being used there instead.
”Another case where we Gozitans are considered second class,” said Borg.
Starting Friday evening, the localities of Gharb, Ghasri, Kercem and San Lawrenz had been without power for up to 15 hours. On Saturday afternoon, according to the live Enemalta outage map all power has now been restored to Gozo.
‘Borg stated that, ”common sense tells you that if the distribution system is weak at a point like it is in Gozo, a vehicle like that must be stationed permanently on the island, so as not to have residents mercifully waiting to find out when the power would be restored. Why this mismanagement? This carelessness?”
He argued ”to know that the damage is happening because of an outdated distribution system which then does not have the proper equipment to repair the damage is irresponsible and an insult.”
”As a Nationalist Government MP for Gozo, this will be a priority for me in Gozo where the electricity distribution system is strengthened and we guarantee that we will not have the scenes we are seeing today. This is a right not a whim.”
The PN MP expressed his thanks tp the Enemalta workers ”who are tirelessly looking for the damage both in Malta and in Gozo.”
