August's unemployment rate up slightly in August - NSONational Statistics Office latest data show that in August, the seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate was 3.0%, increasing by 0.1 percentage points on the previous month.

The NSO noted that in July, the number of unemployed persons were numbered at 9,812. Once again, the 25 to 74 age group being the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment.

For August 2024, the unemployment rate for males was 3.2% this was stable compared to the previous month, while the rate for females stood at 2.7%, increasing by 0.1 percentage points on July.

The unemployment rate during August 2024 for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 8.9% while the rate for those between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.5%.
