LGBTI+ Gozo, a non-governmental organisation, which it said is “committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of the LGBTI+ community in Gozo,” is marking its 10th anniversary.
To celebrate this achievement, LGBTI+ Gozo will host a special anniversary event on Saturday, the 17th of May, from 4pm onwards, at the Santa Lucia Boutique Hotel in Kercem, Gozo.
The event will bring together activists, community members, allies, and supporters for a day of reflection, discussion, and celebration.
LGBTI+ Gozo said that the anniversary will get underway with a conference featuring a compelling programme aimed at highlighting the progress made over the past decade, as well as examining the current realities of the LGBTI+ community in Gozo, and analysing future initiatives.
The programme will include a contextual discussion focused on the lived experiences of LGBTI+ individuals in Gozo, exploring the challenges they face and the work required to build a more inclusive society. This will be followed by a panel discussion, where experts and community leaders will reflect on the progress made over the past decade and discuss the future of LGBTI+ advocacy in Gozo and beyond.
The event will then conclude with a party, including performances from artists Karmagenn and Nell screening of the Eurovision Finale, for those aged 18 and older, celebrating the achievements of LGBTI+ Gozo and the ongoing work ahead.
The NGO said that “this anniversary event will serve as a reminder of how far the LGBTI+ community in Gozo has come and the continued efforts required to ensure a more inclusive, accepting, and supportive future. LGBTI+ Gozo encourages all community members, allies, and supporters to attend and be part of this historic celebration.”
