Prime Minister Robert Abela visited Gozo on Saturday and went to the Ta’ Dbiegi artisan village in Gharb and Dream of Horses, the Multi-Functional Equine Therapy Centre in Xaghra.

He noted that these two initiatives, although different, make an important contribution to the sustainable development of Gozo.

In Ta’ Dbie?i, which is the oldest artisan village in Gozo, the Prime Minister, together with the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri, met with a number of artisans and shop owners, and heard about their artistic work and the contribution it makes to tourism.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Government continuing to support these sectors through funds for modernisation, European funds and incentives for small Gozitan enterprises that want to continue growing.

The PM, together with the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo, visited the Dream of Horses Therapeutic Centre. They met with the management of this centre who explained how this facility is offering horse therapy services for people with mental health difficulties or who have experienced episodes of abuse in their lives.

He thanked all those involved for their commitment to helping people who have experienced difficulties in their lives find refuge in this type of therapy through nature and animals.

During this visit, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke about the importance of Gozo continuing to develop in a sustainable way where economic, social and cultural value come together.

“The creativity of craftsmanship and what we see in initiatives such as Dream of Horses, demonstrate the core of what we want for Gozo: a vibrant community that offers a strong future for generations to come. The measures we have taken in favour of the Gozitan economy and innovation in tourism will continue to strengthen this vision,” he said.
