“God is present in every family” is the message from the Bishop of Gozo Anton Teuma for this Christmas.

The Bishop said that “the celebration of the Christmas story reminds us that God is present in every situation of our lives.”

“Just as it was difficult for Mary to explain to Joseph about her extraordinary pregnancy, so many couples today have difficulty communicating,” he said.

The Bishop continued by saying that “just as Mary and Joseph had difficulty finding a place to live for Jesus to be born, so many couples and families today find it difficult to buy a house or apartment where they can live with their family.

“Just as Mary and Joseph had to walk a long way to fulfil the State order and register, so too do couples and families today encounter legal difficulties.”

Bishop Teuma noted that “the stories of the family of Mary, Joseph and Jesus are the same stories of our families. And just as God was present in the Family of Nazareth, so He can be present in our families. Indeed, without knowing it, we all need this presence of God.”

“And He is ready to come into our midst, if only we make a little space for Him,” said Bishop Teuma.
