Avukati Ghawdex – Gozo Chamber of Advocates – have declared that they give their ”full support to the Chamber of Advocates (Malta) and that they adhere fully and without reservation to the Official Directive issued today, the 17th of June.”
The Gozo Chamber said that the Directive ordered an abstention from the provision of legal services before the Court of Malta on Monday, the 22nd of June, in light of the judicial protest filed on the 15th of June, regarding the surveillance and recording of privileged conversations between the lawyer and the client at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
Accordingly, the Gozo Chamber said that it ”directs all lawyers practising in Gozo that the Chamber of Advocates (Malta) Directive shall also extend to the Gozo Court and to all hearings scheduled for Monday before any Court, Tribunal and Board, Arbitration or Expert Accesses on the island of Gozo.”
”The same exemptions for urgent cases provided for in the Chamber of Advocates Directive such as urgent criminal arrangements, bail applications, Habeas Corpus applications, and acts expiring on that day, continue to apply,” the Gozo Chamber said.
