Update: The PN Electoral Commission has received Alex Borg’s declaration of interest for the post of PN Leader
The Electoral, Records and Data Commission of the PN that today, Thursday, the 25th of June, at 12pm, it received a declaration of interest for the election of PN Leader from Alex Borg.
This follows the Nationalist Party General Council’s launch on Wednesday evening of the process to appoint the Party Leader, the Electoral Commission will be receiving declarations of interest until Wednesday, the 1st of July.
The Electoral, Records and Data Commission of the PN has said that it is receiving expressions of interest from candidates for the election of Leader of the PN, as provided for in the Statute of the Nationalist Party.
In accordance with the provisions of the PN Statute, the PN Electoral Commission said it is therefore opening this period during which it is requesting declarations of interest from members of the Nationalist Party.
It advised that only members of the Nationalist Party whose party membership is paid up in accordance with the provisions of the PN Statute may contest this post.
The PN Electoral Commission said that as stipulated by the same Statute, this call for expressions of interest from prospective candidates will remain open for seven days. This means that declarations from interested candidates must reach the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission by Wednesday, the 1st of July, at 6pm.
The declaration of interest must be made on the prescribed form, which may be requested from the Electoral Commission by email at kummissjonielettorali@pn.org.mt.
The form must be submitted by hand to the Electoral Commission as indicated on the form itself. Each member submitting the form will be given a receipt.
The Electoral, Records and Data Commission of the PN will immediately communicate publicly the names of those who have expressed their interest, through a media statement for every declaration received over the coming days.
