Renewal process of around 160,000 Identity Cards complete

During a visit to Identita Malta Agency, Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard met and spoke with workers in the different branches. Agency Chairperson Marlene Mizzi and Chief Executive Colonel Dr Edric Zahra welcomed Minister Attard and Permanent Secretary Mr Ronald Mizzi.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the way the agency is being run and the way targets are being met, including in the Identity Cards section. It was explained that the Agency has successfully completed the renewal process of around 160,000 Identity Cards, an important step that continues to strengthen the quality and security of Maltese identity documents.
During this meeting it was also revealed that in the first six months of this year, the Agency processed a total of 250,000 applications for all the various services it offers. It was also noted, among others, that the Identity Card renewal service in Local Councils will continue in the coming weeks and months.
The Identita Malta Agency offers many services from different branches across Malta, and in recent months it has inaugurated a new branch in Gozo, with the aim of continuing to improve accessibility.
