The Gozo Tourism Association has said that it regrets to note that the summer season is round the corner and as yet the Ramla il-Hamra beach is still littered with large pebbles. The Association said that this is rendering the only proper beach on Gozo very difficult to use as it is posing danger to visitors and bathers.
The Association said is aware that lately works were carried out on Ramla Beach and the larger stones were buried in the same sand. However the situation has not improved enough to make Ramla l-Hamra a beach that can be enjoyed by both locals and foreigners alike.
The Gozo Tourism Association said it is calling on the competent authorities to take the necessary measures in order to render this popular tourist spot freely accessible to all without any danger. The Association would also like to remind all the Ministries concerned to take care of the touristic product on the Island of Gozo, especially during the current delicate times for the tourist industry on Gozo.
Finally the Gozo Tourism Association said it would like to remind the Government that the tourist industry on Gozo is an important economic pillar on the sister island, and it needs to be supported by concrete actions and measures, in order to make it sustainable and an industry worthed investing in.
It would be a great job to clean Ramla Bay, first of all to remind the Gozo Ministry and then those concerned of the touristic product.
Allow me to say this to the Gozo Tourism Association, second, you should take care of that Huge Cemetery down Nadur Road, that Graveyard is too dangerous for Ramla l Hamra Beach.
Let us hope that the Bay will be cleaned in on way or another.
Please Gozo Tourism Association don’t let the greedy developers destroy Gods creation with villas and the cemetery.

So they want Ramla to be free of pebbles (!!!), while on the other hand aren’t against the development in ODZ of Qala Creek, which will give the kiss of death to Hondoq bay.
Looks like someone has got more than an “interest” here…………………………………………..
The comment above worry me the way that burying place: RIP: is projected on water that ends down to the beach !!!!!
As a young teenager I use to spend days down Ramla bay with friends sunbathing, swim, eat, drink and enjoy myself…….then one day my family decided to emigrate to Australia, Now that we,my wife and I are back to Gozo the first thing that we ddi is go to Ramla bay, on the way I saw this building and they told me that it was a Resting Place: RIP:
When we arrived to the beach and saw the state of Ramla L Hamra Bay to me it seems abandonment and embarrassing to look at.
I have seen nice photos of Hondoq Bay and Ramla Bay, to this moment they are two beaches with standards of 89 per cent with EU bathing waters.
But with the development proposed for Hondoq bay this bay will drop down to last, like Ramla Bay. When burials begin at the New Nadur cemetery this beach will drop to the bottom of all the sunbathing beaches .
