Last weekend the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, attended the 8th edition of Carols by Candlelight performed by Schola Cantorum, at St. Augustine’s Monastery in Victoria. The concerts marked the end of a year of celebrations on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Schola Cantorum.

This year’s repertoire included pieces mainly by Praetorius, Liebergen, Rutter, Willcocks, and Portelli. Traditional pieces from different countries were included as well as a traditional Maltese Christmas piece. Vocal solo pieces were interpreted by Marouska Attard and Albert Buttigieg while Philip Attard and Fabian Cini played a medley of Classical Christmas Carols on the saxophone and piano respectively. Other instrumental pieces were interpreted by Organist, Joseph Camilleri and trumpeter Carols Borg.

Following the concert, a gala dinner took place in the Cloister.
