Following the successful staging of Carmen last October, Gozo’s Aurora Theatre has announced Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca as the main opera production for the 2011 season.
The Theatre said that in view of the strong demand expressed by the general public who had already contacted the booking office for tickets, the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora has decided to open the booking office earlier than normal. Therefore, the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora would like to inform the general public that booking for the single performance on Saturday, October the 15th 2011 is now open.
As in previous years, the theatre said it has secured the services of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be directed by the theatre’s resident conductor Colin Attard. The long-time partnership of artistic director Novella Tabili (Italy) has been entrusted with the set designs and artistic direction, ensuring a secure winning formula to which opera patrons have responded with unfaltering laud throughout the years.
The Aurora Theatre went on to say, "it takes star-quality singers for the cast, with exceptional acting skills to interpret any of the main roles in Tosca, one of Puccini’s opera blockbusters, which calls for artistes of unmitigated quality. As in previous years, yet with renewed and added vigour, the theatre administration is scouting the world’s grandest theatres and landmark opera stages, in order to engage no less than the most reputable household names that will be eventually made public in due course."
At present, bookings are only available from the theatre’s booking office which can be contacted on +356 21559452, +356 21562974 and info@leone.org.mt.
Ticket prices will remain unchanged i.e. €70.00, €60.00 and €45.00. The general public is kindly asked to book early to avoid being disappointed, in view of the already substantial number of booked seats. Actual sales, with any eventual offers, will open later on in the year.
More information is always available on www.teatruaurora.com or any of the theatre’s contact points.
