The Arriva roadshow were at the new Victoria bus terminus today to enable everyone to see the new transport which will be starting in service on the 3rd of July. Arriva staff were on site to answer any questions and help with information on timetables and travel costs. Later in the afternoon members of the Arriva team also walked around the centre of Victoria to give out brochures and chat to passers by.
As well as Victoria, there will also be another two hubs in Mgarr and Marsalforn. All the villages will be connected by the new service, with buses running hourly and between Victoria and Mgarr it will be half hourly.
Arriva staff said that there will be twelve buses on the routes for Gozo, made up of two nine-metre, six twelve metre and two hybrid buses, as well as two articulated (bendy) buses. The bendy buses will be on the Victoria to Mgarr route.
Tickets and fare details are available by clicking on the link here.
Transport Minister Austin Gatt and the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono also visited the event. The government said that the work on the Victoria bus terminus totalled €400,000 and there will be a €1.4 million subsidy by the government for the Gozo bus service. The Transport Minister said that the new service will ‘revolutionise’ the island’s public transport system.

It’s 18 months since I was last in Gozo. Does this mean that ALL the old buses have gone? Also will buses be running in the afternoons to all villages?
Barbara
