GBC expresses satisfaction on Mellieha traffic arrangementsThe Gozo Business Chamber said today that it “would like to express its satisfaction that the Mayor and council of Mellieha have finally agreed to open up George Borg Oliver Street to light traffic coming from Gozo and passing through Ghadira Bay while heavy vehicles will continue to pass through the Popeye Village Road.”

The Chamber said that this was one of the suggestions that it had made to the Mayor Robert Cutajar.

The statement continued by saying that “the Chamber still however feels that it should have been involved in discussions with the council and Transport Malta prior to the closing of the road at the Seabank Hotel roundabout.”

The Chamber “also feels that it should also have been involved in the latest discussions of the last few days which included the GRTU and MHRA. For Gozitans this road is a natural extension of the road to and from Gozo since all the traffic has to pass through it and therefore Gozitans expect to be consulted in any future decisions regarding this particular road, GBC concluded.
