Gozo’s Emergency Response and Rescue Corps lifeguards at the Blue Lagoon said that over the course of today they have given assistance to 44 tired swimmers.

The E.R.R.C. said that most of these swimmers found themselves in difficulty as they tried to swim across the Blue Lagoon from Cominotto to Comino. Cominotto is a small island to the northwest of Comino. All swimmers were accompanied ashore to safety.

The Lifeguarding service at Blue lagoon is being run on a daily basis. The service is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority. Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo – eco-Gozo, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department
