MCAST students proposed ideas on how the campus experience can be improved during a debate with the new Principal and CEO Mr Stephen Cachia, as part of this year’s Freshers’ Days at the College’s Main Campus, in Paola.

During the discussion, themed ‘My kind of MCAST, the students agreed that greater awareness about the significance of vocational education means that MCAST has become a very popular first choice for higher education among young adults in Malta.

They emphasised the importance of the College’s rigorous quality assurance procedures, suggesting that new and prospective students should be informed about these systems that guarantee the quality of the education they are to expect at MCAST.

The students also called on the College’s 10 Institutes to engage in closer collaborations to help students from different areas of study join forces for more new multi-disciplinary research and learning opportunities.

They agreed to the Principal’s proposal for greater student involvement in the MCAST Student Council and in the organisation of extra-curricular events on Campus. In this regard, they urged student organisations to establish branches at MCAST.

Mr Cachia added that students should not focus on academic learning only, but must also work together to create a vigorous social community for an enjoyable, holistic campus life experience.
