On Monday, just two days after the Episcopal Ordination, the new auxiliary Bishop, H.E. Mgr. Charles J. Scicluna visited the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu accompanied by Mgr. Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco and Elected Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Boston, Mgr. Robert P. Deeley.

The Bishops were welcomed by the Rector of the Sanctuary and after being shown around, Mass was celebrated at the Chapel of Our Lady. Afterwards the bishops spent some time praying in front of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu.

A few days prior to his ordination, Mgr. Scicluna sent a candle with his emblem to be lit in front of the image of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu. This candle was placed on the altar of the Chapel and every evening the Rosary was prayed with the intention of the new bishop.

During this visit, Mgr. Scicluna wrote a special prayer to Our Lady. Part of this prayer is being published hereunder in Maltese, in order not to change the original meaning. The full text of the prayer will be published in the December issue of the periodical ‘Madonna Ta’ Pinu.’
