A battery-operated eco-truck has been presented to the Ghajnsielem Local Council which will be used on several small projects, including valley cleaning, embelishment works and the cleaning of passageways.

The Council said that “these projects are all part of the eco-Gozo vision of making our island more beautiful, welcoming, inclusive and successful.”

The truck was presented to the The Ghajnsielem Local Council by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono. The Council was eligible for 95% of its funding through the second eco-Gozo scheme for Local Councils.

“These funds will assist the Local Council in the reconstruction of the Ghajn tal-Hasselin monument and the formation of a roof belvedere, the top of which may be accessed from the existing stepped passageway,” the Council said.

The Council is also proposing to clean the Simirat valley, starting from the proximity of Triq Borg Gharib, through the first stretch of buildings of Triq Simirat and ending in an underground tunnel which passes through Pjazza tad-Dehra and conveys the water into the valley passing through Ta’ Passi.
