The UNESCO National Commission in collaboration with the office of the President today launched its DVD about San Anton Palace. In itself a work of some considerable dedication and expertise, this project shows San Anton in its full glory – historically, architecturally, artistically, the furnishings, the botanical gardens. It is instructive, educational, aesthetically, and user friendly.

“It is in various ways an epitome of Europeanity, which over the centuries came to be concentrated within and without these walls, from the early 17th century onwards, thanks to the Provencal knight and Grand Master who built it, Antoine de Paule, and his successors, be they Grand Masters of other European nationalities, British Governors, or Maltese Presidents. Indeed restoration, conservation and innovation at San Anton continues apace, at the moment for example in the Russian chapel downstairs and the drawing room,” said Professor Henry Frendo chairman of UNESCO National Commission.

Dr Reuben Grima and Mr George Borg explained how the virtual tour works technically by way of a commentary about the San Anton project.

President George Abela thanked the UNESCO National Commission for this project and also expressed his best wishes to all women on the occasion of Women’s Day.
