Yesterday afternoon the lifeguards of Gozo’s Emergency Response and Rescue Corps, who were stationed at the Blue Lagoon in Comino, rescued two people from a kayak that had capsized off the Blue Lagoon.

The incident took place at around 5.40pm and the search only took a couple of minutes. The kayakers were not injured and did not require hospital treatment. Yesterday’s lifeguarding flag was red, indicating that it was not save to swim or doing other water related activities.

The lifeguarding service at the Blue Lagoon in Comino is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority. Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.
