The Gaia Foundation and Sharklab recently held an Awareness Weekend of fun and interesting activities at Ramla Bay in Gozo, which proved to be a great success.
Unfortunately, the strong winds prevented the organisers from doing the planned boat trips, however, there were educational games for adults and children, they also carried out a sand sifting clean-up and built a giant stone shark. 
Gazebos, with information signs, were set up on the beach and they attracted lots of people of all ages, they loads of fascinating shark material including eggcases. It provided a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about the beautiful Gozo coastline
Ramla l-Hamra is a protected Natura 2000 site and Blue Flag Beach. Its sand dunes are a rare feature in the Maltese Islands and a habitat for some rare plant species.
The Gaia Foundation is the site manager of Ramla. It teams up with Sharklab, an incredibly dynamic NGO that specialises in research on rays, skates and sharks.
The Blue Flag was also raised fo the first time this year at Ramla l-Hamra. This eco label is awarded to beaches that meet a set of sustainable development criteria.
I went there . Nice Sharks made from stone ! But i think nobody was cleaning then the beach from all the pebbles after the party .
Maybe we can send some people from the MTA and the Gaia Foundation to other countries to learn how a beach has to be !!!
