Members of the ‘Up in ARMS’ class action group have rolled out adverts on the back of Arriva buses this week in Malta and Gozo, which, the Group pointed out are, “ironically, the very buses that charge EU Nationals double fares.”
The group said that they are protesting the much publicised “discriminatory pricing tariffs, imposed on EU Nationals in Malta.”
The campaign will run for a month covering Gozo, M.I.A, St Julian’s and Sliema routes.

well done guys – it did make me laugh though..
The ‘e-Residence Card / New identity card shambles features prominently among the hundreds of ‘Reasons for signing’ which are appended to this petition: – “EU Commission: Stop the discrimination of EU Nationals in Malta”.

Oh dear more petitions Byron?
It is about time that some body do something about the pricing. This should not be just to EU Nationals but to all other tourist no matter what their country is. I do hope that the Government will act quickly about this and not to go around the bush, and pointing fingers on each other.
Sadly Anthony this isnt going to be a quick fix. this has been on the table and known about for well over a year in terms of a campaign – and nothing has been done – the government has had every opportunity to fix it – and also promised not to sweep this under the table-not to forget about it and not ignore it – but thats exactly what they have done. so these guys carry on regardless and fight their case in whatever way they can. I say good luck to them all and am right behind them.
“The ‘Up in Arms’ group who launched their campaign by way of Arriva buses last month, in Malta and Gozo, learned yesterday, 5th September, that Arriva have removed the advertising campaign from its buses”
no doubt with the help and input of Arms Ltd Arriva and not forgetting TM………took their time though eh
Well, the group should have read para 5 of the Terms & Conditions. This was a stupid idea and very provocative and a waste of donor’s money. Whoever organised this needs to be questioned. To constantly beat people over the head with EU this and EU that is non productive and how do you get what what you want from people that you make angry? You don’t; so this is all self defeating. Some ex pats should really question why they live here and answer that truthfully. If they don’t like it then go home. I’m serious and I’m an ex pat.
has any donors money been lost?
Mr Cundy, with respect I know comments are only personal opinions, to which we are all entitled, but wouldn’t it have been a good idea to ask your questions before commenting thus basing your opinion on fact?
No one is beating anyone over the head. I personally always opt for polite, informative, factual, communication and any campaign is meticulously put together with every avenue and outcome investigated and planned for. No one is angry. People are speaking and a resolve is being sought, through Sir, a lot of hard work and effort.
As Prime Minister Muscat said yesterday:
“Having different price tags for bus tickets issued to locals and foreigners is a discriminatory measure endorsed by the former government, Muscat said. When he looked into the ticketing structure the Prime Minister found that little communication was exchanged with the EU over this matter. He argued that he is not satisfied with the current situation and considers it a discriminatory measure aimed to make “a quick buck” off foreigners. This has a negative impact on tourists and on the EU’s perception of Malta.”
Now everyone knows that actions speak louder than words, (so true in may instances) and we of course now await the action to these words, but until every EU National, in fact every resident of Malta is treated equally, then Mr Cundy I am afraid I will continue with these “stupid” ideas.

As you say I have my opinions which by definition are beliefs or judgments that fall short of absolute conviction, certainty, or positive knowledge; they are conclusions that certain facts, ideas, etc., are probably true or likely to prove so.
You have yours, I have mine.
Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
Marcus Aurelius
I also know what the Prime Minister stated, albeit, after the event.
