Last week, the Sir M.A. Refalo Centre for Further Studies, the only post-secondary school in Gozo, began offering complementary curricular activities as part of its holistic learning programme.

The Health and Safety teachers, Mr Andrew Dimech and Mr Charles Daniel Saliba, invited the first guest speaker, Ms Pamela Portelli, an anti-substance-abuse teacher in Gozo.

During her presentation, Ms Portelli spoke about drug addiction. She also showed videos on addiction, which proved to be quite an eye-opener for the young adults in the audience.

In the near future, the school will host other qualified guest speakers who will talk about issues affecting young people, such as domestic fire safety, alcohol problems and Internet safety.
