The Minister commented, “everyone had a smile, those who provided a service, those who organised an activity and the thousands of Maltese and foreigners who visited Gozo over this weekend.”
Dr Refalo sent a message to the Gozo Channel employees, saying that they “rose to the challenge and were so calm, organised and welcoming during the influx of Maltese.”
In another message to the police, the Minister praised the preparation carried out, which resulted in an organised and disciplined control of the queue to the ferry.
“The hospitality industry also rose to the occasion and gave a great service,” the Minister said. “True there were some who had to wait during very busy periods, but they were rewarded with, and were able to appreciate, genuine Gozitan cuisine with fresh products.
This will not be the first or last initiative to cater to Maltese and foreign visitors to Gozo during the winter months, The Minister said. “The next appointment will be Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem 2013, the very popular Nativity Village which opens between the 14th of December and the 5th of January.”
The Minister took the opportunity to also thank the thousands of locals and foreigners who welcomed the invitation and visited Gozo during the first Free Travel to Gozo Weekend. It is understood that around 28,000 crossed to Gozo over the weekend.
