HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta (HBEU) has said today that it is successfully attracting the attention of job seekers with a total of 88 full-time employees from Malta and Gozo joining Malta’s largest contact centre between January and September 2014.

Established in 2006, more than 400 employees have assisted UK account holding customers.

HSBC said that new recruits at the Centre, located in Swatar, undergo a rigorous 12-week training programme that features a combination of classroom training and hands-on experience via HBEU Academy.

Within the programme, new recruits get to meet with their team members, respective mentors and other departments. They are assessed via various quizzes and practice sessions that ensure a smooth handover between training and graduation.

“When I joined HBEU in September 2007 as a team leader, the call centre was barely a year old and expanding every fortnight,” says Daniel Caruana, Team Manager of HBEU’s latest department of PPI Complaints. “Five years later, and I was working with multiple departments as a coaching manager with a goal of improving overall customer satisfaction.”

Daniel Caruana, like many others at Centre, values the team environment that has become a hallmark of HBEU and considers the Centre his extended family.

Michelle Agius, who joined as customer service associate and worked her way up to become a coach in 16 months, said “Before moving to Malta in 2009 I worked in mental health for six years, followed by customer service with ASDA supermarket and joined the HSBC Contact Centre Malta in 2011.

HSBC said that its Centre provides a range of unique support services to all of its employees. These include a concierge service, in-house gym, childcare subsidies, on-site medical health checks, discounted rates on home loans, life insurance and private health care, a shift swapping facility for flexible work hours.

Owing to continued expansion, the Centre is inviting all prospective applicants to become part of its workforce.
