President inaugurates ‘Lifesaver’ hydro ambulance at ERRC Headquarters

The President of Malta, Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, visited the Headquarters of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) in Gozo, on the occasion of the official inauguration of the ‘Lifesaver,’ a hydro ambulance used in Emergency situations, which was funded by the Community Chest Fund.
Lifesaver will further enhance the water rescue capabilities of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps during the summer months, when the organisation executing Lifeguarding services at the Blue Lagoon in Comino and in various other beaches in Gozo.
During her courtesy visit which took place on Saturday, the President delivered a speech, in which she expressed her surprise in seeing so many volunteers coming from all age groups, particularly the very young ones.
This speech was followed by the blessing of Lifesaver by Mons Vella Gauci.
The President then presented certificates of appreciation to Mr Nicholas Sammut, on behalf of Technoline Ltd, who part sponsored a Powerheart G5 Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with a high Ingress Protection (IP) rating that makes it suitable for use on any boat such as the Lifesaver. Mr Karl Newman, representing All-Trax, who supports the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps the maintenance and servicing of hydro ambulances, was given a certificate of appreciation by the President.
For this occasion, a video prepared and edited by volunteers was played, showing the Lifesaver in action at the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
The President was presented with a memento for the occasion, signed the ERRC’s guest book and a group photo with all ERRC volunteers was taken.
