A 17-year-old Kercem man has been critically injured in a traffic accident at 12.15am this morning on Capuchins Street, Victoria.

An 18-year-old who also from Kercem was driving a Honda Fit towards Marsalforn when he lost control, hit a central strip and crashed into a tree, subsequently overturning the car.

The 17-year-old Kercem man and another 18-year-old man from Xewkija, were passengers inside the vehicle.

The three men were taken to the Gozo General Hospital and the 17-year-old passenger was certified as being in critical condition, whilst the driver and other passenger were only slightly injured.

Duty Magistrate Dr J Vella Cuschieri was informed and she has appointed several experts to assist her in a Magisterial Inquiry.

Police investigations are continuing.
