Simone Mizzi, former President of Din l-Art Helwa has been elected to the Executive Board of INTO, the International National Trusts Organisation.

INTO is the leading authority on the work and philosophy of National Trusts around the world. The election of new Executive Committee members took place at the 16th International Conference of National Trusts (ICNT) held recently in Cambridge, England.

“I am honoured to have been invited to join the leadership of INTO ,” said Ms Mizzi. “INTO connects a global network of national trusts with a powerful brand that inspires and attracts members and supporters the world over. INTO represents well over 7 million people spread across our planet. Din l-Art Helwa was a founding member of INTO in 2007. It will be a privilege to play a role in shaping its future and representing Din l-Art Helwa and through it, Malta.”

Ms. Mizzi will be serving with Dame Fiona Reynolds DBE, former director-general of the National Trust for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who was elected to the position of Chair succeeding Founding President Professor Simon Molesworth AO., QC who recently visited Malta where he was made an Honorary Life Member of Din l-Art Helwa.

During his stay in Malta Professor Molesworth gave a high level talk at the Malta University Valletta Campus, participated at a Round Table Debate and was able to meet several NGOs. He also visited the Minister of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change, Mr Leo Brincat and HE the President of Malta, Dr Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

INTO is a non-governmental organisation, founded in 2007 with the objective to promote the conservation and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of all nations for the benefit of the people of the world.

Martin Scicluna, also former Executive President of Din l-Art Helwa was instrumental in its foundation together with Professor Simon Molesworth. INTO’s main focus is to assist developing nations set up local associations for the preservation of heritage and the environment, to raise awareness of the threat to the global community from climate change.

INTO is also committed to the promulgation of responsible tourism around the world. Nature Trust Malta is an Associate Member of INTO.
