Update Tour Fully Booked: Wirt Ghawdex is organising a cultural tour to Malta on Wednesday, the 11th of November. The two main highlights will be a visit to the Great Siege Exhibition currently at the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta as well as a guided tour of the newly restored Fort St. Angelo, to which we will be given special access.
The tour will get underway with everyone meeting on the 8:15am ferry from Mgarr, and then on to board the tour bus at Cirkewwa, onwards to Valletta where everyone will walk to the exhibition at the Palace (approx. 1 hour at exhibition).
The group will then be met by Heritage Malta Head of Curatorial Affairs Godwin Vella who will lead the tour down to Lascaris Wharf (via Upper Barrakka lift) to get the boat and cross over to Fort St. Angelo. From there everyone will proceed to the Fort, which will be opened specifically for the group.
Once at the Fort, there will be a half-hour break with a light lunch being served (tea/coffee, sandwiches, pastizzi & cake). There will be an opportunity to work off some of the pastizzi as the group follows Godwin on a guided tour and explanation of the restoration of the fort.
Following this the group will return to the bus which will take everyone back to Cirkewwa for the return to Gozo on the 3:45pm or 4:30pm ferry, depending on traffic.
Prices for the tour will be: Members – €20 Non-members – €25.
Price includes: · Transport from Cirkewwa to Valletta and back (does not include Gozo ferry tickets) ·
Entry tickets to Great Siege Exhibition and to Fort St. Angelo
· Light lunch
· Return tickets for Lift and boat from Valletta across the Grand Harbour
· Added bonus: a 25% discount will be offered on specific publications related to the Great Siege exhibition.
The number of participants is limited to 20.
This will be a great opportunity to see these two sites (one of which is not open to the public) and offers a sizeable discount over normal fees (adult entry fee alone to the Great Siege exhibition is €15).
Those interested are to send in a cheque, payable to Wirt Ghawdex, no later than Friday, the 6th of November 2015.
Cheques can be mailed to Wirt Ghawdex, Dar il-Gvernatur, Mgarr Rd, Victoria or dropped in the mailbox at the same address. Please include a mobile contact number on back of cheque.
Payment will be returned should the limit of 20 have already been reached.
