The Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity Michael Farrugia, has launched the Children's Dreams initiative for this year's Christmas period.
December is only a few weeks away and with it comes all the joys of Christmas. For many children, Christmas means decorative lights in the windows, gifts under the tree, parties and spending time with family and friends.
Unfortunately, not all children will experience this during the festive season due to their various social problems, others who are currently living in care. The Government said that these children are all being assessed by Agenzija Appogg.
For this reason Agenzija Appogg in partnership with Lina Pecorella, have once again launched the Children's Dreams project.
Following last year's success, this project is once again hoping to give these vulnerable children the opportunity to have their dreams come true.
Last year there were 875 children whose dream materialised thanks to companies and individuals who paid for the presents.
Children's Dreams follows a similar project in Lithuania, which has been running successfully for six consecutive years.
All dreams are published on the website, www.childrendreams.org and varies from toys and games, to theatre or cinema tickets.
The sponsors will then choose any dream they wish to fulfill. Once Agenzija Appogg receives the gift from the sponsors, this will then be given to the children's carers, who in return will give it to the children on Christmas Day.
The details of the sponsors will only be provided to the social workers responsible, who would then get in touch with the sponsor by email or telephone.
The names of the children have been changed to protect them. Confidentiality will be respected to protect all persons concerned.
For those who would like to contribute by spreading the word, please do so!
The aim is to spread the word out there and really fulfil every vulnerable child's dream. The project has its own Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/childrendreams.
