Last Thursday, the Scout Association of Malta held its annual awards night for its adult members. The ceremony also included awards for the various Scout leaders from both the Victoria and the Xaghra Scout Group.

During the event, which was held at the island Headquarters, Chief Scout George Cassar commended the time given by these adults to Scouting, for being excellent role models to its youth members and wished them many more years of service within the association. The Chief Scout also highlighted the fact that among the adult members present for the ceremony, the total volunteer years exceeded 500 years of service and this, in itself, was fantastic.

The year 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of Scouting in Gozo. The two Scout Groups of Victoria and Xaghra have prepared a programme of activities to commemorate the event. Putting into practice the Scout's Law and Promise, which emphasises on helping other people, the first activity will be a walk in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

This morning, together with the Malta Community Chest Fund office in Gozo, they organised a charity walk to kick off their celebrations of 100 years of Scouting in Gozo, which was due to start from Ta' Pinu at 10am, and for which President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca was also going to take part.
