The Gozo Philatelic Society has organised a special exhibition at Il-Hagar Museum, in St George's Square, Victoria, commemorating the centennial of the `New Caledonia Migrants Incident.'

Which was when hopeful Gozitans (and Maltese) who arrived in Australia on the French vessel Gange were prevented from landing on the orders of the then Prime Minister Billy Hughes – for obvious political reasons.

A (possibly minor) result was the titular statue in the hamlet of Santa Lucija. The GPS quarterly covers the issue and a special international card is being produced in conjunction with the Philatelic Society of Canberra.

The museum is open daily from 9am-5pm including Sundays.
