Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar has alerted the Planning Authority this morning advising them of “unauthorised works” taking place in Gozo and called on the Authority “to take action immediately.”
FAA said that it had “just been informed that unauthorised works are taking place to build holding walls for the illegal dumping of building waste at the abusive Ta’ Muxi quarry in Gozo.”
“As you know, this quarry has been the site of massive illegal dumping in the past – probably the largest abusive dump-site in Malta and Gozo as the photos above attest,” said FAA in the statement to the PA.
FAA added, “in spite of enforcement notices and court orders, the remedial action that the site owners took was mainly to cover up their abuse by enclosing the dumped materials in dry stone walls and camouflaging with a layer of soil. Where was MEPA’s monitoring in all this? Where is the PA’s action?”
FAA concluded its statement by saying, “the fact that this has been going on for years made it blatantly easy to detect with aerial monitoring – so can one blame the public for thinking that the PA’s lack of action is due to the fact that these abusers are being protected?”

Ta Muxi . is the place that who is running it does whatever he wants. I`ve read several times that he was ordered by court decision to remove all the illegal dumping that he did over the years. Why hasn`t he done this. I would like to remind you that some time ago for a much much less amount a contractor was fine very heavily and was ordered to remove it . This was around Dwejra area. Who is the contractor concerned in this case? Let’s name and shame, not that they will have any shame of course.
Mr Tyrrell these people never do care at what they do as long as they fatten their pockets . Ta Muxi is an example
